Mama Tip Tuesday | July 4th Flag Cake

Our Hoosier July 4th Tradition

I love simple traditions. Oh who am I kidding I just love traditions. I our family has tons of them. I think they bind us together in certain ways.

For July 4th weekend, we seem to have several. Some are old and some are newly added. We love spending time with family, grilling out, the pool or the lake, a parade and of course our simple July 4th flag cake. My kiddos ask for it every year. They love baking it, spreading the cool whip and gently placing the berries. We've been making our 4th of July flag cake since little man was 3. He's almost 10 now and baby girl almost 6. Wow how the years fly by!

So what do you need?

July 4th Flag Cake Recipe

  • One prepared box cake mix, can be white, yellow or chocolate (your choice)
  • One container of whipped topping
  • 2 cups strawberries (sliced)
  • 1/2 cup of blueberries

If you want to get extra fancy, you can poke holes in the cake and fill with strawberry and blueberry syrup and let it soak in.

Enjoy the sweet moments, laughs and giggles with this simple patriotic family fun tradition.
