Wandering Wednesday | A Family Evening on the Monon in Carmel

There is just something about the vibe of the Monon in downtown Carmel, Indiana. People walking to and fro, enjoying dinner, sitting and chatting, delighting in ice cream, getting in an evening walk with the family pooch... Such a pleasant atmosphere and so much to do as a family.

This past week we headed out to try Bub's Burgers and Ice Cream on the Monon in downtown Carmel. We had never been before, but were always intrigued by the cute yellow house-style restaurant right on the Monon path. We got there around 5:30 and with a 15 minute wait we were in. The awesome old-fashioned games outside kept the kiddos plenty business while we waited. They even made a few friends. We opted for inside dining since the outside wait was longer. Next time I'm holding out for outside.

What a fun atmosphere, inside and out! Love the pictures on the walls of all who have conquered the "Big Ugly" and lived. Baby girl loved taking them all in and looking for anyone she might know.

Our sever was amazing. The kids loved her. She was ever so helpful with it being our first trip too. We sampled the chili. Delish! We played a fun table game called No Speed Limit. I had my first ever breakfast burger and the rest of the family had traditional cheese burgers. Coach Man was a bit off his game that evening - no Big Ugly for him, but he thought about it. The onion rings were heavenly! We were so stuffed we didn't get to try to ice cream side of Bub's, but next time definitely.

After dinner we headed for a walk on the Monon. The kids met a couple doggie friends along the way. With so much tree cover as you go, it really is a pleasant walk.

If you're looking to wander as a family for an evening out this summer, I totally recommend a Bub's and Monon combo.

We even spotted our friends from Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation!
