Mama Tip Tuesday! 3 Money Saving Landscaping Tips!

Budgets are tight. We can all use a little FREE these days.
I'm sad to say that we have lived in our home for 4 years, and we are just now getting our landscaping in order. It seems budgeting for curb appeal has taken the back burner, so I've become thrifty to get what I want! Yes, cheap and free!

Here are a few of my recent budget friendly finds!
FREE Mulch:
Many counties and waste departments need to do something with all the limbs and trees in the way of those power lines! Those trees and limbs get ground into mulch!

Here is how we got our free mulch locally in Hancock County Indiana:

Load times are Wednesdays at 1:00pm.

Discounted and Free Plants:

When plants are past their prime in the container many companies will discount them. These babies just need a little Tender Loving Care (TLC)! Last year I went to Brawner's Greenhouse in the late fall and purchased plants at 50% off!
Tip from Mrs. Gail Brawner, water well for at least 2 weeks! No need to drown them!
They came back beautifully this spring after planting them so late in the fall.
Ask your family, friends and neighbors for plants too! Many annuals can be planted elsewhere to start a new plant! Again, what's better then free?!
Recycled Materials:
Don't be afraid to reuse materials. My husband hated the bricks we had along the driveway after twisting his ankle a few times. So we used left over railroad ties from the chicken coop. Look around your house and find things to repurpose! I hear wine bottles are great edgers turned upside down.
Lastly, you don't have to spend big bucks to get great curb appeal. Keep it simple and be creative with your budget.
